The emerging theme from Europe is that interest rates may stay low for many years to come. perhaps right through the current decade. This is not ideal from a European Central Bank perspective, but with so many shocks to business being experienced in today's world and the need to ensure that nothing is done to dampen investment over the coming years, the prospects of low interest rates for many years to come is gaining support.

Increasing rates would also make the Euro stronger which would hit exports and employment.

From a mortgage perspective this could be mean lower rates in the future with short term fixed rates mortgages coupled with cash back now looking like an attractive option.
